About James Shomar

James

“Let us tenderly and kindly cherish, therefore, the means of knowledge. Let us dare to read, think, speak, and write … Liberty according to my metaphysics is a self-determining power in an intellectual agent. It implies thought and choice and power.” – John Adams.

James Shomar is an aspiring economics doctoral student with a background in mechanical engineering and entrepreneurship . The Exceptions to the Rule blog (ETTR) was born out of the need for an objective, straightforward, engaging information hub and discussion platform for the most pressing economic issues of the day. The increasing push towards STEM fields is an incredible benefit to our culture and species. It is unfortunate that our economic sciences have not shared quite the same passion fueled trend. The Economy is the man made system which ties all of our lives together, designed to satisfy all of our lives needs and guide our society towards and ever improving standard of living. While science has enjoyed a largely unbiased ascent (with  few notable exceptions of course), the economy often faces a highly polarized political debate where critical thinking, objectivity, and empirical evidence from cutting edge research are thrown out the window. It’s time we change that, and begin to inform ourselves without preconceived notions, and enter discussions with each other about the important issues effecting the beautifully complex socioeconomic system which forever connects us.

Liberty, according to my metaphysics is a self-determining power in an intellectual agent. It implies thought and choice and power.
